Custom Views in Orion

Hello all,

I've been a member for a while but havent really posted. I need an answer to a question and am hoping someone here can answer it.

A Orion user has asked me to create a view that allows them to see only certain nodes (account limitation) but they would also like to add nodes themselves to this view. Is this possible without giving them admin rights or node management rights?

So its kind of like a little work area they can monitor objects that they wish to that they have problem logged against (make sense?)

So you want them to only be able to add nodes, that's it?

I believe you must give them node management rights. I tried creating a new menu bar with just the add node link, but if they cancel they get web node management

What i want is for them to have a nodes table view showing all our ADSL sites and be able to add more ADSL sites into that view only.

I dont want to give them the rights to delete nodes.

I opened a support ticket for this same exact question recently.

In NPM 9.5, you can only give a client/user web admin access for all devices (i.e. add/remove nodes) in your database. So, they can view portions of your database via a custom view, but for admin you have to give them rights to edit all nodes across the board.

The support engineer told me to get this functionality you need to talk to your sales rep about creating separate pollers and separate web engines (which would involve license fees)

I will log that as an enhancement, the ability to give more granular node management rights to a user, aka add or delete node for example.

I recall I used to do the first part, using custom properties, setting something like a unique name in a custom property and then assigning that name to the nodes I want them to see and restricting their view to nodes with that property name.

I dont think you can do the second part - as stated above it's sort of all-or-nothing

But they could request nodes to be added to their view to an admin (you?) - not the most hands off thing but it would work.
