HP Autoloader Robot: Knowing what tapes are inside.

Hello there,

We purchased some HP Autoloader robots (R1R75A+ LTO-7 drive N7P37A) for which we can get the basic info (SEMI-MIB), but no Tapes status on the Autoloader. We workaround this with a script asking the BackupExec in the server hooked to the Autoloader what's the slot status, label, etc. Someone else found a direct way to get this info?

If you know the MIB OID's your looking for then you could create a Universal Device Poller that will show the status under node details for the node.

I have some questions related to this as it may help to determine the best solution:

What data are you specifically looking for?
Location of a specific tape?
Daily inventory?
Tapes to be ejected for offsite storage?
Tapes to be labeled as scratch?

How often are you needing this?
- can it be a daily report or maybe every few hours?
