Monitoring Windows Registry Value

I have an application where it changes a registry value depending on the state of certain indicators in the application. I need to monitor the value of this registry key on a regular bases such as every 15 minutes and alert me when the registry entry is a certain value. How can I do that with Solarwinds SAM?

Windows PowerShell Monitor that uses the Get-ItemProperty cmdlet to fetch the registry value, evaluate, and return SolarWinds-formatted stats. Here is an overly simplistic example:

param(     [string]$reg,     $target_value)$reg_value = Get-ItemProperty $regWrite-Host "Message: '$reg' is currently set to '$reg_value'"if ($reg_value -eq $target_value) {     Write-Host "Statistic: 0"} else {     Write-Host "Statistic: 1"}Exit 0

Once you have the template, set the polling frequency to 900 seconds.

You can also read registry keys via WQL/WMI, so you could hypothetically use a WMI Monitor.

Very useful! I adjusted slightly for preference. I find that it is easier to manage several values in the same location using this, for me it is just easier to track.

I used this to build a template to check for the Windows server Update Settings. I will upload the template as well, to use if you want to monitor WU settings status, specifically in my case to be disabled.

I have windows update monitors monitoring our SCCM environment with SAM. Depending on what you change the value of the output (a number, 0, 1, etc.) you can change the 'state' of the APM in Solarwinds. Short Answer is a powershell script you setup as a template & apply to 'server x'
