Event Log forwarder will not Install.

I click the exe for version 1.5. The app checks for the pre prerequisites, on the 2008 servers C++ will be downloaded and installed. The rest of the install is defaults minus the install directory, D drive. The install gets to starting the service and fails. It gives a generic error that I do not have sufficed rights to start the service. My account is in the Administrators group on the server.

I called in and was told that free tools are only supported through the Forum. Personally I found this a little disturbing. From what I know about the tool it only works with Kiwi and Orion Syslog servers, you have to pay for them. I was planning to install the forwarder on about 1200 windows servers. When I found that it was not supported under my Paid for maintenance I was I little frustrated. How am I expected to use this in production if I have very limited support?

Is it safe to assume since I have had no replies to this post that there is no support for the log forwarder?

Sorry for the confusion. Log Forwarder for Windows and Event Forwarder should be supported if you're on active maintenance for either Orion or Kiwi. Having said that, let's try to solve this for you here to avoid any further run around.

It appears you're trying to install the old Windows Event Forwarder on Windows 2008. This isn't supported.

You'll need to download the new Log Forwarder for Windows (see additional components section in your customer portal). See this post for details on what's been added:

I got the same issue , Please help

We have issue that when
customer install this NPM agent, it show some error(on the next email attach
files) then install process cannot finish.

I also open ticket but they do not support this one
