I figured I'd turn to Thwack for a quicker answer rather than try the phone or a ticket... can anyone help me understand what exactly is up with this? Will this mean that I won't be able to use the scalability installer for any other APEs?
If anyone is interested I did end up calling support to talk to the licensing department and was told that this is kind of just left over from the pre-NPM 12.0.1 deployment (and a consolidation of two sites' licenses), and that since this is now integrated with NPM 12.0.1 that it won't matter if it expires or not. Not sure if anyone else is seeing/has seen this but I wanted to drop the information here just in case.
When you install an Additional Polling Engine (APE) or Additional Web Server (AWS), you will find the Orion Scalability Engine Evaluation license in the License Manager on the main polling engine. With this license, each polling engine can poll unlimited number of elements for 30 days.
When you purchase and activate an APE or AWS license during the evaluation period, you can still install and use further APEs or AWS's with the Orion Scalability Engine Evaluation license until the end of the evaluation period.
When the Orion Scalability Engine Evaluation expires, the license is marked as expired in the License Manager. Purchase and activate the appropriate number of APE or AWS licenses.

Thanks. I had a moment of panic when I saw that it was due to expire soon.
Did they offer any solution on getting rid of the expired license from the system?
Yeah, it doesn't technically matter that it's in there and expired, but it's quite annoying to see, especially since it shows as an expired license in the notifications. It only bothers me a little, but to managers that don't know much about the product it can turn into a "thing". I think we've all had managers like that in a company we've worked for from time to time.
The person I spoke to on the phone basically told me to just let it go and to not worry about it. Once it's expired it'll go away.
I also have this currently so im going to do nothing based on the above and see what happens
I see this as well and its Expired. How can we get rid of it so management isn't thinking there is a problem.
It'll go away on its own, that's what SolarWinds told me--and eventually it did.
I found this in the release notes of NPM 12.1 It looked applicable to your problem.
APE installer error on Orion Scalability Engine Maintenance Check: The license we have for Orion Scalability Engine is o…
FWIW they've never fixed this.. We just had a fresh install (Aug 2018), and have added a secondary poller. Still see it.
Still a problem...
The banner just showed up in our environment. We cutover to this one about 40 days ago and moved our APE licenses over at that time. Everything looked great, then yesterday this banner showed up. I don't understand why this is showing up because this evaluation has been expired since 2018 and isn't even activated to a system. I have management asking about this banner and I am at a loss why it appeared and how to get rid of it. I have tried rebooting the main poller to restart all services, but it still hasn't cleared it.
I just installed all new systems a few weeks ago, and it shows this as having expired five days ago. There is no delete option, and someone is going to question this. There should be a way to delete it, but I have not found it.
