Orion Network Atlas - visibility from a node perspective

Currently we are using SAM with maps created using Network Atlas. We are wondering the following:

We actually want visibility from a node perspective.

Example: we want a group that contains Nodes, and we want the group to go red if ANY application/component or Ping etc goes down.

What we have now is groups that contain applications.

Can view these from a node perspective instead, if we cannot, is there any way around this?

Groups don't support node child status. You would need to also add the applications into the group if you wanted the group status to reflect not only the status of the servers, but the status of the applications running on those servers.

A group can contain any combination of nodes, volumes, applications, etc and the group icon status shows the combined health status of all items contained in the group. Nodes, groups, applications, etc.can also be placed onto the Network Atlas map individually to show the status of just that specific object. In your example, if you added the node to a map the child status icon (smaller sub-icon in the bottom right of the primary status) would be red or yellow if any application monitored on the server was in a warning or critical state.

Thanks for this, am just a little confused. From the images below we have created a Group called TEST APP and placed all our Application Servers (Nodes) into this Group

Then created a Map and just added the TEST APP group to the map. The status of TEST APP never changes even though when going into that group it will show a device with a problem component.

Thanks for this. Shame it does not support child node status. Monitoring a large amount of servers and would of loved the function just so our service desk could quickly see the culprit within a down group
