Way to monitor whether a server was backed up?

We backup all of our servers via Symantec NetBackup. This includes windows and linux servers. I have seen there are application monitors for NetBackup clients and servers (windows WMI only), and those still only seem to monitor whether or not the service is running, but I need to be able to alert if a specific server was not backed up? Is this something that can be done in Solarwinds?

I don't know in Netbackup specifically, does it write an event to the windows event log or a log file somewhere when a backup completes/fails?

I'm sure there is a way to monitor for it, just need to know how your application keeps track of failures or success and tell SAM to look there.

ok...thank you for that! I'm closer to what I need now that I know I can poll job status with that template. HOWEVER... it appears to give me a summary of every status since the beginning of time. Is there a way to add a variable that says only these specific dates or most recent job. Do you think that is something I can set in the alerting rather than in the monitor itself?

You may want to copy/duplicate the 'Job Status' component and enable the 'Count Statistic as Difference' option on one instance of FAILED, then remove the threshold from the other 'FAILED' instance of the component. This should get you want you're looking for.
