Advanced alerts not alerting

When it rain it pours...

We just had a power bump and I see at least a dozen down nodes in both me web view and in the System Manager yet I never received an email notification (which is a node down trigger). I looked at the Alert service and restarted it just in case - nothing.

I looked in the Advanced Alerts (no grouping) and do not see them show up in there.

I then went to the Configure Advanced Alert and tested the Node down alert and it worked.

Can someone tell me why the down devices are not showing up in the advance alerts nor triggered?

Even i face a similar issue with advance alerts in NPM 9.1 SP5

i have an advance alert configured to write a log in file sometimes it does and most of the time it doesnot.

This is a bit strange but in my alert i have copied the same action in reset action and reset works fine but alert action does not.

Hope the experts are aware of this and have something to fix this up.

There isn't enough information here to answer that question. Is it just one alert that didn't work? What was the alert?

Ok The alert is defined something like below

Triger Alert for :

All interfaces matching my interface custom property MPLS=yes

Link transmit or receive utilization > 75 %

Reset condition : when alert condition is no longer valid

Alert action :

wite a Alert message ( link current utilization) to a text file c:/alerts/message.txt

run a batch file to execute :

1) a vb script calling a URL and posting the text in the message.txt file
2) delete the message.txt file ( for future alerts)

Reset action : ( same files called again)

Now i have also refered the script calling sometimes does not work well when the service is started from system account so i have even changed the Alert engine service to use my admin account to run.

The same script and same actions on batch file works fine in reset action but doesnot works in Alert action. no change in code or sequence in actions in batch file (same batch file called in both actions)

Ive just had the same issue occur in 9.5 NPM.

We had a node down which was logged in the Event log however an advanced alert was never generated. I have node down, interface down, high response time advanced alerts configured which have worked fine in the past but its let me down today.

Looks like Advanced alert is buggy. I experienced the same problem.

1. Mine was to trigger alert when it rebooted

Rule: Last Boot Has Changed

2. Not all alerts are being triggered (down, up, cpu utilization, etc)

3. Even in syslog, it will only triggered when I unchecked "Trigger Threshold" But Once I set it up, the alert will not trigger. So I'm borbarded with alerts now

Hi,

I was trying to find some examples of Advance Alert configuration using Custom poolers or snmp trap notification but was able only find outdated tutorial for ver 8.1.

I need to create alerts about status of Riverbed devices, in particular when device is going into bypass mode( enterprises.17163.1.1.4.0.7.
