7.8.5 alert email problem

Hey folks, over Christmas I stopped getting emails for the alerts I have configured. First, I tried a reboot but it didn't help. The Solarwind services are all running. On the Orion server I can telnet via port 25 to my email server and send test smpt email messages to my regular email account so that SEEMS to eliminate issues with virus scanners or firewalls.
I haven't gotten a reply back from support yet and my boss's glare is giving me a sunburn! Any ideas, guys?

Have you tried test firing the alerts?
From NetPerfMon, go to active alerts then configure alerts, then test alerts. From here you can simulate an alert being triggered. This can help weed out some issues.
I ran into this problem before- not sure exactly what the problem was, but there are known conflicts with certain pieces of software- our solution was upgrading to 7.8.5 and we uninstalled a trial management suite that we had put on there...not sure which solved the issue, but it works. Hope that helps~

Also, I forgot to mention- in the 'Test Alerts' window, there is a 'View Alert Error Log' button- the log may provide some insight as well.

I am right now testing Orion 7.8.4 NetPerfMon and have this same issue, I can't get the alerts to send the email I have tried all bunch of diffrent variations in the configuration of the SMTP server and username and password but the test all give me the same error.
The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc15. The server response was not available
Error Number--2147220975
Jan-18 15:38:15.85 : 3520 : AlertID=13 NetworkObjectID = N:8
Looked for the error number on the Orion KB but couldn't find anything. Any help would be very appreciated

Try to telnet from the Orion machine to the smtp server to port 25...see if you can get a helo.
If you can, it sounds like there is some kind of authentication issue.
