app monitor time out

i have configured a template and applied it to 3 servers.  2 of the servers work fine, the third shows a constant unknown status.  i am confident the reason for the third is that becuase of a much higher server load it is slower to respond and therefore timing out.  i have adjusted the timeout setting in the template but it doesnt seem to actually change anything when I do this, or in other words I think changing this isnt actually changing the timeout value.

SNMP is very lightweight and works very well, ever over highly latent bandwidth contentious links. Do these SNMP component monitors ever return a proper status? Are you trying to apply an application template containing SNMP component monitors to an external, ICMP or WMI node type? Without a packet capture or a diagnostic it's difficult to say for certain what's going on, but I'd validate the node itself can be polled via SNMP for common things such as CPU/Memory and volume information. If this is successful then there should be no difference with SNMP component monitors.
