Customized chart - 7 day Chart display of 15 intefaces

I've tried report writer and web admin to make a new display.. no luck...

I would like to display on a single page a 7 day interface chart for like 15 different devices...

i'm sure its easy.. but i guess my brain has stopped working due to my swine flu.

Sure thing.

On the web console, go to Admin/Manage Views.
Click Add to create a new view, name it something, and select Summary then Submit.
Select the number of columns you'd like, as well as their width.
Click the plus sign (+) to add a resource to the first column.
Expand the Miscellaneous resources and select "Custom HTML or Text", then hit Submit.
Back at the view's main page, highlight the "Custom HTML or Text" resource and hit the copy button (looks like two little blue monitors). Do this as many times as you have resources.
Now you can position the resources however you'd like by highlighting and using the arrow buttons.
When you have everything positioned, go ahead and hit "Preview".
You should be brought to your page with a bunch of empty HTML resources. Just click on each one's "Edit" button and enter the HTML to display each of your interfaces.

It's tedious, but unfortunately it's the only way you can set up a page of interface graphs at the moment. Maybe someone will come up with a custom resource that can be used to display graphs of interfaces that belong to a node or perhaps have a specific custom property configured.

you should be in quarantine before you infect someone with your virus, hehehe just kidding.....

It will be possible for report writer, I would suggest the ff:

1. Create custom property using custom property editor

(Start > All programs > solarwind orion > grouping and access control > custom property editor)

select interface > add custom property > select Build a Custom Property from scratch > Add property to: select interface > Property name (ex. Swine) > Property type (text) > Max Text Length (50) > OK

then mark the 15 interfaces of your different devices with a common name (ex. flu)

Name Swine

interface 1 flu

interface 2 flu

interface 15 flu

2. Then create New Report ( Start > All Programs > Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping > Report Writer)

2a. Select default report under Historical Traffic Reports (Average and Peak Traffic Rates - Last 7 days

2b. In General Tab, Edit the Report Group to My report ( or any name you want).

2c. In Filter Tab, create new elementary expression and follow this argument

Records where Swine is equal to Flu

Then click either Execute SQL query or Preview to verify if you can get the ff information's you wanted, then save the report

3. Export the report in to excel. then from excel you can generate your preferred chart.

In my opinion, one of the weakness I founf in orion NPM is customizing reports with graphical representation or chart

The Excel solution is a crafty one, but I imagine what you are looking for is something web-enabled. Unfortunately, the only way to do this today is to create a Summary page in the web console and use the "Custom HTML" resource to put all your interface graphs into a single table. I've asked for this feature for some time, because it would definitely be nice to *easily* create a page with a bunch of different interfaces on it from different devices (or even the same device), for quick viewing.

Could you give a little more detail on how to do that? I'm a bit of a noob w/ SolarWinds, and been reading tons. I have several interfaces, on two different devices I'd like to set-up.
