Missing SNMP Version

I see that some devices that I am monitoring do not have any version of SNMP listed even though they are collecting stats. I can change it to version 1 or 2 and it accepts the value and updates the machine. I am assuming that during the discovery process it realized that it had SNMP but not the correct version?
