Microsoft SQL Server Cluster Monitoring

Had a question that I was hoping perhaps someone more experienced than I would know the answer to. In our environment, we have an SQL cluster consisting of 2 MSSQL 2008 servers; the cluster hosts 3 named SQL instances. It is our desire to monitor each individual SQL instance to determine the availability, performance, and total resources drawn for each individual instance, regardless of what node in the cluster it is currently on. I have spent a considerable amount of time searching the thwack forums for an existing, solution, but have not found a clear (to me, at least) answer; is this possible, and if so how can it be configured?

Have you setup the cluster to be monitored by APM yet? According to these two posts, it's definitely possible to setup the SQL cluster monitoring. As far as monitoring the availability, performance and total resources, wouldn't the SQL Server User Experience Monitor work for you?

I have seen both of the previous posts you mention, but neither answers my question clearly (again, as far as I can see). Additionally, the SQL Server User Experience Monitor isn't really what we need, as it simply performs a synthetic SQL transaction.

Basically, we have 3 instances spread across 2 nodes in 1 cluster. All have been set up in Orion for a total of 6 nodes present. We want to look at the total resource usage and performance of each of the 3 instances, regardless of which node they currently live on (e.g. at least processor and memory usage statistics per process) however I have not found any way to do so thus far with the provided templates, documentation, or resources here on Thwack.

I would suggest to use performance counters. Have a look at machines, where SQL server instances are installed and you will there are several Performance Counter categories for each specific SQL server instance. You can select counters from those appropriate categories to get per-instance information.
