Application Status Tracking

Probably not uncommon for Solarwinds, but I don't know how to set this up.

I have about 150 applications that are running on a multitude of VMs. In some cases, the same application is running on multiple VMs, in other cases not.

In using the 'All Applications Tree' resource, I am able to see the VMs and then drill down to the individual VM level to view the satus of the applications on the VM. I am looking for a way to show a different version of an application tree. This tree would list the applications and then if I wanted to drill down I would be able to see what VMs the application is running on. This 'view' of our applications would be very helpful.

How can I set this up?

Note: I am pretty knew to SolarWinds management, but I am willing to learn.

Hello Matt,
Click on "Edit" button on "All Applications" resource. There are three grouping options. Set "Level 1" to "Application Template" and "Level 2" to "Node Name". If I understand you correctly that should do what you need.

I should have mentioned previously that I am working with NPM v9.5.0. Is your suggestion provided above for a newer version of NPM?

Hello Matt,
I suppose that you have APM 2.5 or older (this is related to APM module, not base NPM). Multilevel grouping was added in APM 3.0. I would suggest you to upgrade to newer version. Current version is APM 3.5 and there were many improvements and new features since 2.5 so upgrade would be really good for you.
