I experienced a reboot to a cisco router recently due to power loss. The only alert that I received in NPM via syslog was concerning the reboot. It ends up my LAN interface did not recover after this reboot. My thinking is that there is a issue between the router and NPM. The solarwinds server will pickup downed interface during regular operations and alert on them. My thinking is that after a reboot NPM is not creating an alarm for interfaces that were up before the reboot took place. I have the following snmp configuration in my router: snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup coldstart warmstart.
My only conclusion right now for my NOC, is to login to every router they see a reboot on and confirm LAN interface. An alert would be much more helpful.
Is there anything I am missing here?
