Alert Configuration on Orion 7.8

HI

I would like to configure an alerts which monitors the utilization for 24hrs for > 85% and then send me an alerts, would like to know if this is possible, if so please help me on the same,

Are you trying to get an alert if utilization stays >85% for more than 24 hours? or if utilization reaches 85% during a 24hr period?

The first scenario could be done with the Beta Alert Enginge which would be set to send an alert if the condition (utilization >85%) was sustained for 24 hours.

I'm not sure how I would address the second scenario.

I am trying to setup the first scenario, can you through more light on the same [BEta Alert Engine], i am not sure of how to get this done.

I have one more question , i wanted to configure latency alert , how would i do that ,

OK here goes.
For the Beta Alert Engine.
On the Trigger Condition Tab,set the following
- Trigger this alert for any {Interface} that meets the following
-- Trigger this alert when all the following apply
--- Xmit Percent Utilizationis greater than 85{Interfaces, Current Traffic, Xmit Percent Utilization}

Then adjust the slider at the bottom of the window until it reads.
Do not trigger this alert until the trigger condition exists for at least 24 hours (Appears that the slider has a limit of 8hours}

As for latency, that would be a new alert using Node Response time as the condition.

I would probably add additional criteria to limit this alert to serial / frame-relay links with speeds less than T1(1536Kbps}

Also, our policy is if utilization stays higher than 70% during normal business hours (thus 8 hours) for more than 3 days during a week, we look at upgrading the circuit or using packet shaping and compressiong.

Sorry to distrub you, when i go to the trigger condition tab all i have option is to specify the % alone and i dont see any other option to set the values,

I am using Orion Version 7.8

Make sure you select the "Show Advanced Features" check box selected on the General tab.

I dont have that option , am i running on a lower version of the tool are amy admins have not provided me the rights for that
