Easy way to change from SNMP monitor to ICMP?

I have about 10 devices that we used to monitor by SNMP but won't be able to anymore. We still want to know if they are online so I want to convert these from SNMP to ICMP. Is there an easier way to do this short of deleting the node and readding it as ICMP only? If I do that that means I lose all history, etc and it will probably pick up a new deviceid which then means I have to redo the map.....

With 9.5 you can go from ICMP to SNMP, but you cannot currently go from SNMP back to ICMP, that is an open enhancement request
