Hello all,
I'm conducting a Port Audit on our NPM and one question I've been unable to answer is what is the difference beteen 'Interface Bandwidth' and 'Configured Interface Speed' under the Interface Details ?
Any ideas ?
Cheers
Neil
'Configured Interface Speed' is value polled from device.
This value can be changed on Interface Edit web page and we call it 'Interface Bandwidth'.
Interface Bandwidth can be customized where configured interface speed cannot, at least in terms of from within NPM. The Interface bandwidth values are what's used by NPM in order to determine percent utilization for both inbound and outbound traffic, where configured interface speed is what was discovered within the device when polled via SNMP. So while the configured speed is say 1Gbps, but you decide to limit the ports to 500Mbps, then you change the interface speed using the custom bandwidth checkbox when editing the resource. This will change the values under Interface Bandwidth and change how the calculation is done.
