Greetings All
We have picked up a funny with WEB Link monitors that is causing quite a bit of confusion. We host a fair number of WEB sites on a production WEB server in a DMZ and we use WEB Link monitors to the root of each of these sites (www.SiteName.com - no deeper URL's) to monitor te response and availability of the sites. It works perfectly well, except that our developers are picking up an enormous number of WebEvent Errors from their built-in error monitors. The erros are all similar in that they complain about malformed URLS referring to either illegal characters in the path, or object references not set. Looking at the details of the errors, it seems as though the SolarWinds monitoring servers is trying to access "rubbish" or random URLS. They all look something like this:
http://www.site.co.za/ContentName.aspx?Name=Technology&Scheme=92&Version=2
where the web link monitor only contains www.site.co.za
Other link error references include:
http://www.site.co.za/ContentName.aspx?Name=Face-to-Face&Scheme=94&Version=2
http://www.site.co.za/"ContentName.aspx?Name=Managed (Note the automatically inserted quote after /)
http://www.site.co.za/"ContentName.aspx?Name=Contact (The quote is one of the more prolific issues)
(There are no ContentName.aspx files or references on the web site being monitored.)
If we remove the WEB Link monitor, this behaviour stops.
Anybody have any ideas?
Kind Regards
Frans De wet
