Orion database reset
ssharma
Hi,
I want to be able to reset the Orion database, so I can get fresh data starting after the reset (keeping the custom properties, discovered nodes etc. intact). Am wondering if there is a utility provided by Solarwinds for doing this, or do I have to drop the tables manually in the Database Manager and build them again ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I haven't tried this yet, but there is a Utility in the latest release that allows
you to backup your website to a file.
You could just run the install wizard again and point to a new database.
However, you will lose all the existing discovered nodes.
Most likely you will have to manually delete selected data from the database.

Haley showed me a way to delete data from the database.
In Network Performance Monitor settings-->Database tab, there are settings such as: 'Daily statistics will be deleted from database after X days'. Just set this to 1 day, and run nightly maintenance on the database, that clears up the data older than a day.
