Process SNMP Probe

We are running SAM pollers on 2 different server OS. The SNMP probe seems to have less errors on server 2003 but from time to time we see the same errors.. When running on server 2008r2 we see alot of Unable to Initialize Socket errors. here is an example of a working and non working event. Does this look familiar to Solarwinds?

What version of SAM are you running? It may be that the device you're polling doesn't fully support SNMP GET BULK. This can be disabled following the steps outlined in the KB article below.

SAM 5.2. Will check this out but I call tell you that SAM polling works fine when running on server 2003 and has issues on server 2008. No changes were made .. just moving the server from 1 poller to another using the node management page

ok getNext is working on 2008. I am still troubleshooting. I confirmed that the 2003 server that was polling the same server was set to BulkRow and was not having an issue.

Could you please also try to keep bulk method (PollMethod="BulkRow") but decrease bulk size (BulkSize parameter which is by default set to 10 ...I would start with value 2 to see whether problem is with packet size or bulk method itself)?

Thanks Petr. Not only does “None” work but I tried many combinations of “BulkRow” of size 2-10 and it seems we are only getting “unable to initialize socket” with BulkSize 9 and 10. Any idea why? Thanks again
