use existing database to new NPM Server

I am trying to connect existing SQL server 2014 database to new NPM server. can anyone help me share the video or step by step guide.

Issues i am facing are :

i created the copy of same database through backup and restore to new database but still asking the database is in use by old server

action taken : i let it continue

I dont remember password for SolarwindsOrionDatabaseUser, can i reset the password in SQL server or any other way to get the password?

action taken : i used sa ID and password

but at the end it finished with failure.

If you know the sa password then you should be able to reset the SolarWindsOrionDatabaseUser account password from within the SQL Server Management Studio.

I recently did a migration of sorts, did not seem to flow with the migration guide so I ended up doing the following to get my server back online. Note that I did migrate both my DB and application to new servers, I'll try to list out the steps I took below - might be a bit hard to follow as I was taking notes as I went

Ran DB Manager on the App server
1. Queried table for Websites and Engines
  1. Edited and removed old <server_name>
Ran Configuration Wizard on App Server again
1. Only did the DB connection
Ran Configuration Wizard on App Server again
1. Only did the website connection
Ran DB Manager again
1. Ran a query under Engines per this site
  1. Link
Ran full Configuration Manager again
Site was up but complaining of license issues
1. Used the following link to fix

Restored licensing
Site online and operational except polling engine of all nodes where still pointing to the old engineID
1. Shutdown all services from Orion Service Manager
2. Opened Database Manager on the new server
3. Connected to the DB server - caution because you will be editing your database, at least have a backup before playing here
  1. Right click on DB and run New query
  2. </code>Displayed all nodes and their <code>engineID
    1. SELECT sysname, ip_address, engineID FROM [dbo].[nodes]
  3. Changed all engineID that were set to 1 to 3 with the following - your numbers may vary

1. 1. 1. UPDATE [dbo].[nodes] SET engineID = '3' WHERE engineID = '1'

You should check the Migration Guide - Migration Guide for SolarWinds Orion Products - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

You might need to run the SQL Script to edit the Hostname if you're on a new server. As for the SQL Account, if you have the permission I would suggest resetting it or you can create a new one using the Config Wizard. I would recommend against using the sa account.
