I do not have much experience with solarwinds so pardon my ignorance.

I am looking to get a device count of my entire network, basically all pingable devices. Apart from the ping sweep tool is there a tool that is part of the toolset that I can use in solar winds.

We have multiple upon multiple of subnets and I would be afraid to just let the IP scanner loose to scan everything, but it would take quote some time to go through scanning each subnet.

Also, since there are laptops and turned off computers it may not find everything on the first sweep, so I if there is something solar winds has that can do all of this automatically while being un-intrusive to the network that would be great.

We have 2 main locations connected 100MB link and solorwinds only only setup at the one site.

I would recommend looking at our IP Address Manager (IPAM) product. You could use the Ping Sweep tool in the Toolset, or even our free IP Address Tracker tool, but based on the size of your environment and your requirements IPAM is really the best solution for your needs.
