Hi
I've couple of posts about this same issue going back few years I wonder if it has been implemented yet. I have a device that's not allowed any icmp traffic, but does allow snmp. Is there a way to get it's status without icmp? Thanks.
There has been no change in status polling. ICMP is still required for status (up/down) as well as response time/latency measurements. If you need to monitor a node that does not accept ICMP Echo Request packets you can add these nodes as external nodes and still monitor them using APM component monitors (minus SNMP statistics) WMI/RPC, User Experience Monitors etc will all work with external nodes.
Thanks!
We have this same problem except with some network devices behind a firewall. Is this something that is planned to be addressed in a future version or do we need to put in a request for it to be?
I would recommend posting this as a feature request in the appropriate Forum.

Hi any updates concerning the monitoring of non ICMP friendly device ?
There is still no way to use SNMP instead of ICMP to have the availability and response time ?
Cheers
