High CPU - Which process is causing this?

Question

I'm evaluating NPM right now and I can't seem to figure this out.  I have a few servers being monitored with NPM.  I noticed that one server was running at 100% cpu utilization for a few hours over night.  Is there a way to go back to see what process was causing this?

If you haven't already, do look over the requirements (page 8) and server sizing (page 9) in the Orion NPM Administrator Guide. For large installations, we highly recommend putting your SQL on a separate box from NPM, and possibly even dedicated just to the Orion DB.

Thank you.  i used apm to monitor sql and found sql was causing this.  My concern is that if we deploy this in a large scale, 800+ servers, the amount of initial work that will be required to monitor each application.  It does work though.  Thanks!

The short answer is no, the CPU utilization is read from a oid that returns overall utilization.  Your options are limited here, if you notice this is a regularly occuring event (like every night) you could run a perfmon (assuming it is a windows box) to monitor suspect services runing on the server.  Depending on the number of services, that would could affect the performance of the server. Or you could try a similar methodology with Orion APM.
