IP SLA with Cisco ASA?

Hello all,

Most of our customers use Cisco PIX's and ASA's for their internet connectivity and security. We were wondering if we can use the new IP SLA Monitor, but as the PIX's and ASA's do not use IOS, we're not sure if the ASA-OS will offer the right functionality that IP SLA Manager can use to provide insight in WAN and application performance etc.

Thanks for the reply. I have dived deeper into the SLA features of the ASA OS, and it is true: only a subset of IP SLA has been implemented in ASA (as far as I can see). For example, you can use IP SLA for static route tracking (for ISP Failover), and use ICMP-ECHO for that. However, ICMP-ECHO is the only protocol-type that has been implemented in the SLA-mechanism of the ASA.

So, unfortunately, the ASA-OS currently does not offer enough functionality for IP SLA Monitor to function.
