Assistance with Active Alerting

We have in place the "Alert me when a component goes down" and this works a treat.

Obviously this is against all nodes within the business but I am wanting to know how I can suppress this alert for a certain component on just one node.

Seem to be confusing myself every time I approach this!!!

There are several ways that you can accomplish this...

The first option is to edit the Trigger Condition on the alert an add a simple condition for each node that you want excluded such as Node Name not equal to <your node name>.  This option is slightly clunky and doesn't scale very well.

The other option is to edit the alert and add a simple condition as follows...

User Notes not equal to SUPPRESSED

Once you have done this you can now go to each application component and in the user notes field type SUPPRESSED to remove it from being alerted when down.

As a third option you could to each application component that you don't want alerts on and disable it or delete it from the specific application.
