Report on enabled alerts

Hi all,

I'm a noob with SolarWinds and Monitoring in General.  We are using NPM 10.5 and my boss is looking for reports on what things we have enabled Alerts.

There was an old Thwack post from around 2005 (entitled Alerts,NetObjects) I think that will get me what I need for Nodes,  Interfaces and Volumes.  It somewhat depends on Alerts.PropertyID.  A PropertyID of 68 is for Nodes, 58 is an Interface, and 156 is a Volume.  Unfortunately, I can't find a Property table which associates names with the PropertyID.  So, are there any other basic tables I should look at to find any additional enabled alerts or is everything I need in the Nodes, Volumes and Interfaces tables?

First thing's first, have you checked the Advanced Alert Manager? This is a GUI app available on your primary poller (the main SolarWinds server, in other words). This will show you all the Advanced alerts you have enabled. These are generally those which will 'do' things, such as add an entry to the events log, send out an email to your boss at 3am telling them 'EVERYTHING IS FINE' (no, I jest, but that could be funny, right?). This would be the first thing to check. It will also allow you to start poking around with alerts, as you will need to learn how it works.

Whilst NPM 11.5 and above replaces the Advanced Alert Manager GUI with the Web Based Alerts, the version you're on doesn't have this, and understanding how the Advanced Alert Manager works will give you good fundamentals on how SolarWinds handles alerts.
