copy polling engine alerts ?

We just added a second Polling engine and I've discovered that The Alerts do not apply across the board. It looks like I have to create alerts on both plooing engines.

Can someone tell me a way to copy alerts from one polling engine to another ? (not move......copy)

I found the answer with a little help from tech support, and some on my own...

I am going to duplicate each Alert that currently exists on my primary Polling Server. Then, I will modify duplicate Alert in the the SQL DB as you instructed.

First, open the database manager utility in Orion (Start\Program Files\SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Manager\Database Utilities\Database Manager).

Connect to your SQL Database, and then choose the "Nodes" table. Right click and select "Query Table" and then refresh to see the results. You will see a listing of all of your nodes - what we will need to do is find the Engine ID Field by scrolling over to the right. Once you have that, close this box and query the Alerts table.

You will see the Engine ID field here as the very first column - move the radial button at the top of the window to "Read/Write" and change it so that it matches the engine ID of the Node field. That should copy all your alerts to the new polling engine.

After that, I have to stop and restart the NetPerfMon Serivce on the primary Polling server and finally, I stop and restart the NetPerfmon service on my secondary Polling server. (It must be done in that order to have the primary server "release" the Alert, and then have the secondary server "grab" it afterwards.

Don't know if this will help anyone else, but I've duplicated all of my alerts.

I'm assuming this refers to the Basic Alerts configured on each polling engine using System Manager?

If you are using the advanced alerts, then you would only need to do this on the "master" polling/web server, since the advanced alerts pull the info directly from the Orion DB.
