Indexes fragmentation over 90%

Question

I have just upgraded my evaluation version of NPM 11.5.1. I am getting the "Indexes fragmentation....." error and have not been able to correct it using the steps found in the forum. I have SQL Express version 2008R2 and no SQL Management Studio. I ran the Database Maintence tools in SolarWinds with no effect. I connected to the database using the Orion Database Manager but did not find any tools for defragging the database. I am hoping someone can tell me where to go from here!

I would check to make sure the SQL Maintenance scripts are completing properly, I have noticed some tables can be skipped. To resolve this I kept changing the schedule when SQL Maintenance runs. It should not be run at the same as a backup or when the web maintenance is scheduled. Depending on the size of your installation, and how busy your system is, these tasks should finish pretty quickly. I have also run into an issue where the a certain table index will just need to rebuilt manually. In most cases that will help correct a fragmented index. Of course other factors to think about are database free space, if your maintenance plan shrinks files or releases free space. I would ask your DB Admin to remove these items from the maintenance plan.

SQL management studio should already be installed on you Solarwinds database server. My DB admin have a script that index once a day. Lots of the time I find the script does not reorg or rebuild the indexes so I use Studio to do it manually.
