How to convert from monitoring via ICMP to SNMP?

I am using Orion 9.5 SP5. I have several nodes that I am monitoring via ICMP (Ping Only). If I edit the properties of a node and uncheck ICMP (Ping Only) it gives me options for configuring SNMP. If I takes the defaults, SNMPV2c on port 161 and fill in the proper community string and select "validate SNMP", the test fails.

If I delete the node and add it back, using the exact same configuration parameters for SNMP, the "validate SNMP" test is successful.

Am I doing something wrong? Is anybody else having this issue?

I don't think you need to delete the icmp only node to get it to work. If I remember correctly, you can just go through the 'add node' procedure as if it were a new node.
