Find Credentials

Does anyone have an easy way to list what credentials a device is using?

I'm cleaning up my Credentials used within Solarwinds - consolidating, verifying that they are domain credentials etc. I don't need much detail, only what credential name is used for each node. That will let me know which ones I need to change or update.

I marked this as assumed answered simply because I had 2 GREAT answers.

This community is one of the main reasons to recommend Solarwinds. I posted a question beyond my abilities this morning and by early afternoon I had 2 answers that solved the matter. I chose the one that worked best for me and in the course learned more information about the products workings.

Hi Richard,

Are you referring to WMI credentials, or credentials for SAM components, or both?

Right now just the WMI credentials. I just have several accounts that have been created over time for my 2 domains and I need to pare that down. I'd like to have one for each domain (with the exception of the devices that aren't actually on the domain and they'll have to have their own)

This is the report I use for checking on my node credentials, set it up as a custom query.

If you want to be able to search it, put this in the lower box that appears

I have the same problem. I can us MS SQL studio to connect to the database and find the credentials using this query

select

nodes.NodeID,

nodes.Caption,

nodesettings.SettingName,

NodeSettings.SettingValue,

Credential.Name

from Nodes

join NodeSettings on nodes.NodeID = Nodesettings.NodeID

join Credential on nodesettings.SettingValue = Credential.ID

where nodes.ObjectSubType = 'WMI'

and nodesettings.SettingName = 'WMICredential'

and Credential.name like '%<enter name>%'

and not ( nodes.caption like '%MM%'OR nodes.caption like '%MV%' )

order by nodesettings.SettingValue asc

You can remove the credential name criteria if you want all of the node credentials.

what I don't know is an easy way to say "replace credentials a with credentials b" . we have a dozen domains, so unfortunately I cannot simply assign credentials to all windows servers. I have to do it one domain at a time.

I don't mind changing them one at a time - I just don't want to have to look at every one of them to determine if it needs changing or not. Reporting like this is very helpful.

Richard, I looked at this and realized it would be more useful if it included a direct link to editing the node, so I've updated my original post with a segment of code to streamline that.
