SAM 6.2.2 Hotfix 1 - Install notes error?

I'm prepping to install HF1 and was reviewing the install notes and found a reference to a SQL Server service.

To install Hotfix 1:

1. Stop all SolarWinds SAM services.

a. Navigate to Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Services Manager.

b. Expand Services.

c. Select each service and click Stop Service.

Do not stop the SQL Server service. This service needs to be running to make the necessary changes to the database.

Uhh, I've been doing this a while now and I've never even seen a SQL Server service on a polling engine, whether primary or APE. Am I missing something?

Yep, SQL Server service would only show from the Services.msc if you have installed this on the same box as Orion. Probably some customers tend to stop this service as well that's why they mentioned that. idk

janene16‌ is correct. If you don't have MSSQL installed on the same machine as Orion, which is a typical configuration only for evaluation, then this note is not applicable to you.

That is what I figured but I wanted to make sure. This should be called out in the HF notes. I'm a reasonably smart guy but I was left scratching my head wondering if I had missed something. Install notes definitely need to be written for the lowest common denominator.

I guess I've proved that, haven't I?!?

Thanks Jane! Although I have to say that if people used the Orion Service Manager instead of services.msc then this call out would be unnecessary.
