License Key not working after re-installing NPM on the same server

Hello all,

I installed NPM and NetFlow module v3 on windows 2008 server and all went fine. Few days server crashed!! so I had to reinstall everything but on Windows 2003. However, no change in Hardware.

Server doesn't connect to the internet. I tried using the same license key which was generated from Solarwinds website but it gives me a message

"that License Key is for a different Computer/Software package combination"!!

Is there away where I can regenerate a new Key for this server?

This is because the new installation for a newly reimage server will generate new serial number though it's the same server installation, so you need to register that new serial number to sw website.

As far as I can remember, When the installation prompt you to enter your contact info + customer portal ID then you click next, the next page will prompt you to enter Software license key and the machine name and serial number is already there in blue font. Once you are on that page, try click the website then just follow and play play with it. just make sure you have internet access on that box and you know the portal ID.

Else, create trouble ticket so sw tech will guide you through the process

You don't have to have internet access on your NPM to get your key working again. You will have to log into the customer portal from another machine that does have internet access and there you can download the latest version of NPM (if you want) and also your license keys are in there. From the portal you can generate a new key for the s/w with your name, machine name, unique machine id etc. When in NPM and it asks for your key generate your unique machine id. Copy this id to the machine with access to internet and use it with your info in portal to generate a new license file. Copy this file over to your NPM machine and point to the file from NPM and you should be good to go.

I know that I don't have to have internet access on my NPM server. I couldn't find the License Key on customer portal! The previous one I got it because there was an option called Manually Register License. When I click it then it got me to the next page where I can enter my details and get the key. I've done what you said exactly in the first time and all went fine but the second time it's different.
