Discoveries Won't Run Anymore

This is our new instance, we've done away with the old app server/database.

I rebooted the server and this error is still there. When I hit "Discover" after filling out the discovery form, I get this:

A Network Discovery job has failed to complete.
State: Failed
Profile id: 37.
The Job Scheduler is reporting the following error:
No suitable job engine available for job execution

I submitted a ticket already.

I got mine working again by installing 10.2 RC2 - which ran the config wizard...

What ever, it is working.

Working with support should work,its hard to say without looking in deeper.

I had the same problem on a new install of Solarwinds.

The problem was a easy fix once i found it. If you install Solarwinds before you set your final computer name. You need to change it in by editing the Polling Engine name in the Network Sonar Wizard.

ahthomas, did you ever get your problem fixed?

My discoveries stopped completing. They run, just stop at 9X% and time out (even for 1 node and 2 hour timeout). It looks like is doing things and everything is chugging along nicely, but just never finishes.

I don't have the drop down to choose a poller, so that's not it for me.

Have you tried running the config wizard for the job engine plugins? We saw similar issues, and running the config wizard for all four of the job engine plugins on the primary and each additional sever corrected our issues. It doesn't interrupt polling, so I thought it was worth mentioning. Hope it helps with your problems.

We fixed this issue a while ago, rebooting the server helped. The issues are still being looked into by dev. Honestly, we're well within the requirements and limitations of the software, but our issues are related to database performance. The SQL server is a very low I/O server, and there is no latency between the SQL and app server. These issues were all out of the box and all relate somehow to app or SQL performance.
