SQL 2008 monitoring

Hi there,

I have APM 3.0 installed on the same server as NPM 9.5 SP4 and I'm trying to monitor a SQL 2008 server with multiple databases. I have configured the APM template to use WMI and it seems to be polling the server, but all of the stats are 0, with no response time -- buffer cache-hit ratio, SQL page reads per second, SQL page writes per second, latch waits, and full scans. The only item that is returning information is the SQL Server Port and the SQL server Process. Any idea what might be wrong? I'm testing this monitor against a SQL server that runs multiple databases.

Hi Brandon,

Can you do me a favor please? Run this SQL statement on your 2008 server, and return the first 4 rows.

select * from sys.dm_os_performance_counters

The 2008 template expects a certain pattern for object_name, and I'd like to see what your instance is spitting out.

Thanks. I do believe that's what the source code wants to see.

I had thought the "SQLServer:Buffer Manager" might have been slightly different (instances) or maybe nothing returned (permissions issue).

I recommend opening a support ticket, and reference this thwack post. I'd like our staff to help verify APM against your environment. Typically the 2008 template works great.
