Can anyone tell me if it is safe to delete some of the logs under \ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\APM ? We have logs going back almost a year. Thanks.
Ok, go ahead and delete them. Zero sized files and files older than 5 days that are having [#] (where # is process id) in their name are not useful and their deletion is completely safe. Just skip those of them which are currently held by running processes.
Yes, it is safe to delete old logs. What is the log file name pattern which is causing issues?
Some log files should roll and keep limited number of log files of limited size (e.g. APM.BusinessLayer.log*), others should be deleted automatically by file age ("SolarWinds.APM.Probes_[*].log" and "APM\ApplicationLogs\AppId*\*.log") so in general logs should not eat unlimited disk space. You may want to use SolarWinds\Orion\LogAdjuster.exe tool to adjust logging settings to reasonable level.
They look like they're of this pattern, dating back to 3/17/2013 and mostly (but not all) 0KB files:
SolarWinds.APM.Discovery_[#].log
SolarWinds.APM.ProcessExplorer_[#].log
Ok, what version of SAM are you using? Is it possible that these old logs were created before upgrading to current version? Are there also logs with recent creation time and same name pattern?
SAM 6.0.0 ... most of the files have the same Creation Date as Modified, so these must be from several versions ago.
