FullName/Caption vs. InterfaceName

I'm having a problem with the Account Manager in Solarwinds. We have two switches where the InterfaceName comes up the same for all interfaces. Unfortunately, that's what's displayed when going into an account and changing the default device for interface details.

Is there a way to make the Account Manager use the FullName or Caption when giving me a list of interfaces? Also, it wasn't doing this before, so what changed? Is it something to do with an IOS change or is it something that changed in NPM?

This only applies to changing the "Default Network Device". It gives me the FullName or Caption when choosing an "Account Limitation".

Hi Justin,

You should find a shortcut in your Orion>Advanced Features folder called "Account Limitation Builder".
Running this app allows you to specify any property to base your limitations on.

Once you have selected the property you want, it will appear in the Account Manager as a selectable radio button.

I explored this but, unless I'm missing something, didn't see anything that would let me get the list back the way it used to be.

When I choose a View that is an InterfaceDetails view, the list I get uses InterfaceName rather than FullName or Caption.

It appears you can only add limitations based on CUSTOM properties.
Since you are trying to use discovered properties, unless that property is already listed in the defaults, you must add a custom property yourself & base it on that.

Hm. I think I've gotten you drawn off of what I'm looking for.

The issue I have is not with what property the Interface Details views use. They use the only value they can, which is InterfaceID. However, when solarwinds displays a list of interfaces for me to choose from, it shows me a different property than it used to - one that happens to be non-unique. I was hoping there was a code sheet or template I could change that would give me the old displayed value.
