Just as quick refresher, the APM module is intended to extend Orion with "application monitoring for the network engineer". From our conversations with customers, this means two things:
- Provide monitoring for the core network services for which they are directly responsible.
- Provide the capabilities necessary to shift blame away from the network
The APM module will provide the following capabilities to address these needs:
- Network service monitoring (e.g. HTTP, FTP, DNS, etc.)
- Generic TCP port monitoring
- Process monitoring (similar to existing AM module)
