I have a question about the potential effects on your Orion poller of adding APM. Let's say I have 5000 elements being monitored by Orion using server hardware that routinely exhibits CPU util. of 1-15%, 12GB of memory and plenty of storage space available. In other words, my poller is more than capable of handling just the basic Orion data.

What could I expect to be the effect of adding APM with 50 monitors? 500 monitors?

Is it possible to estimate some rules of thumb as to how that would effect my CPU and memory performance numbers? Or are there too many variables to predict that? Does it depend on the types of monitors that I configure? Does it depend on whether the monitors are SNMP or WMI?

APM uses a different service from NPM, so the only overlap will be the general memory and CPU of the box, and it sounds like you've got plenty of room on your box. 

I'd like to see what actual users are seeing in the field, though.
