APM - extremely high memory usage shown on Solaris 10 server box

We have setup a Solaris 10 box as a server for Radcom. We were able to add it to APM. One of the main applications running on this device is the oracleQManager. There are several copies of this application running on this machine, between 70 - 77 copies. Per our server admin it's normal to run multiple copies like that as per required. The box has 8 GB of memory installed, but the one shown in APM is using 268.8 GB of memory that comes out to be 3360%. Does this number even make sense? Not to me of course. We are on the process of upgrading 8.5.1 to V9 soon. I was wondering if anyone has come across this type of error, and if Orion V9 will help resolve this kind of issues.

You might get a better response if you post this in the APM forum. This topic area doesn't get the same level of visibility that the APM forum receives, and this thread does seem to be specific to APM and not generic Network Performance Monitoring.

Just a point of clarification, this is from AM not APM. They are different products. Now, on to your question...

SNMP reports memory usage as both phyical and virtual memory. That is where the 268.8 GB is coming from. AM calculates the percentage based on physical memory - so 100% is 8 GB on your box.

So, what would be the best process to monitor these memory usage accurately? At this time we are more concerned about monitoring physcial memory than the virtual memory. The Physcial memory is labeled as "Real Memory" in the AM. However, that does seem to be showing over 93% being used or even up to 97% used. The swap space seems to be just around mid 30% used. Just wondering if this is the correct reading or that we might have missed something while setting these applications to monitor. This is because our applications are running smooth/quick to the most part, and just these high memory usage readings kind of concerns me the most. I was wondering if anyone else has come across this kind of issue...

The disk volume reading is shown below:

Real Memory 8.0 GB(size) 7.5 GB(space used) 93%

Swap space 18.2 GB 6.4GB 35%
