Moving multiple polling engines and database

We will be migrating our polling engines and database server to another datacenter. I need help understanding the process. Should we move the DB first then the pollers what is the best method to do this.

The names and IP addresses of all these boxes will be changing.

I just migrated my DB and primary polling engine to a new network (have several additional pollers and web servers). After migrating, I upgraded every module as we were a few minor revs behind.

My suggestion:

this assumes installing on new systems in new DC...

take backup of your database (both if running NCM as well).

shut all solarwinds processes down on all servers.

migrate your database to its new location/IP and bring up. If new SQL server instance/install, ensure all your users are created with appropriate permissions.

install your new main polling engine. The install will tell you there is already a primary engine and indicate you should only continue if you are installing replacement or migrating. you will have to point to the new database server. If any additional modules then install on the new primary system.

Now you will re-install the software on all the additional polling engines.

to back all of this up, there are a few knowledge base articles on migrating the main poller, etc... I recommend you peruse those as well.
