Dell generic noncritical drive warnings: Custom thresholds

I have a few Dell servers that have non-Dell enterprise SSD drives in them. Even though Dell sells the exact same model (for double the price), I always get a non critical generic hardware warning for those drives, even though they are all perfectly healthy.

OK, so this more of an annoyance than anything else, but I want my servers to stop showing hardware warnings when nothing is wrong, so I'm looking to create some custom thresholds for the Drive Hardware health sensors for those drives. My problem: No documentation on the values I can use to accomplish this. I can't even test this out if I don't have anything telling me what values I can use.

OK, so I've found a list of values here:

but it appears to be incomplete, since the "Non critical" warning level I currently get is not even in the list, neither is "degraded," which I would expect.

I have created the following, which seems to work so far, but I'm not positive this does not leave me in the dark to some degree:

warning threshold = Warning

Critical threshold = Critical OR Down

Not the most comprehensive solution...

From "Settings -> Manage Hardware Sensors] select the hard drive(s) that are reporting in error and click "Disable" from the top menu options.

Thanks for the response Alterego,

Doing that leaves me exposed to not knowing when the hardware actually starts to have problems. Turning stuff off just isn't an acceptable answer for me.

Making the changes I outline in my first reply above did get rid of the non critical warnings, but I'm not positive I have the situation covered completely. I know there must be more levels than showed up in the documentation...

The values returned by Dell Servers are

1 = other
      the status of the object is not one of the following:
2 = unknown
      the status of the object is unknown (not known or monitored)
3 = ok
      the status of the object is ok
4 = nonCritical
      the status of the object is warning, non-critical
5 = critical
      the status of the object is critical (failure)
6 = nonRecoverable
      the status of the object is non-recoverable (dead)

Hello Everyone!

We have a similar thing related to a non-certified Physical disk, it shows as NON-CRITICAL. Does anyone know how to get "Green" status?

I've tried to override the warning threshold using SNMP, but monitoring uses other unknown values.

Severity of the array disk state. This is the combined status of the array disk and its components.

1: Other
2: Unknown
3: OK
4: Non-critical
5: Critical
6: Non-recoverable

Any value from the SNMP table is not appropriate. I can't imagine what values I need to use?

If you access Dell's Server Administrator web interface you should be able to determine what the non-critical error is, and possibly even reset it.

Just to let you know, it can't be done via web. Here are the steps:

1) Open the stsvc.ini file located in the C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\sm

2) Find the NonDellCertifiedFlag option and set it to "no" and save the file.
;nonDellCertified flag for blocking all non-dell certified alerts.
NonDellCertifiedFlag=no

3) restart the DSM SA Data Manager service in services.msc
