Retrieving PC/Server temp?

Hello,

I have managed to run a MIB walk against our Dell servers and retrieve the server ambient temp, however I can only get this information if the server has the "Dell OpenManger" server software installed which shows the complete health of ther server.

I now need to get the temperature readings from a few critical devices that run Windows XP Pro, what does Dell's Openmanger do to allow Orion to pick this info up?

I'm then wondering if there is some software I can run locally on these PC's to help me run another MIB walk and find the OID.

I haven't tried this myself but you might be able to use SNMP Informant-MBM to pull this information from your Windows XP machines. Apparently, it's an extension of Motherboard Monitor that exposes, among other information, temperature probe information to SNMP. Let me know how this works out for you.

So would I use SNMP Informant-MBMand then run the mib walker against it to see what it picks up? I'm just wondering how I can get it into Orion 9.5.

Use the MIBs provided by SNMP Informant-MBM to create specific device pollers (Universal Device Pollers) in Orion NPM. For more information, see "Monitoring MIBs with Universal Device Pollers" in the Orion NPM Administrator Guide.
