Addition the poller & additional web servers in existing Environment.

Hi All, I want to know how to add the additional polling engine or additional Web servers across existing polling engine. basically, we are planning to enhance our SolarWinds test Environment and there is single polling engine in our test environment. now we want to add 2 additional pollers or one additional web servers & one additional poller and please let me know how to sync pollers & web servers with main polling engine? We have small (SL100) Test Environment. And what is the process of main polling engine migration? Do we have to deactivate the license from all setting> License Manager > select the modules (like NPM, SAM, NTA ..etc) do we also need to deactivate the license from Solarwinds customer portal? while installing the software where we should add the old license key on the new server?

Hi er.vansh17091​ I think you need to think of SolarWinds in two separate parts - you have the software itself, which have system requirements - and then you have the license.

In order to deploy an Additional Poller or Additional Webserver in your Test environment you will firstly need two servers either physical or VM. You install them using the Orion Scalability Engine Installer that can be downloaded from your Orion Web UI.

If you RDP to your new server and web browse to your Orion UI then go to Settings > All Settings > Polling Engines (Its at the very bottom).

By default this will show you the polling statistics of your Primary Polling Engine, and in the top right hand corner you will see a link to Install Additional Polling Engine.

once you download that file and run it, then you will prompted what option you want to install, you Choose the option that you require, and the installer will do the rest. Once it’s finished it will start the Config Wizard, and you will need to provide the SQL Database details (They MUST match what you are using for your Primary server). Once the configuration wizard has completed you will have your additional server. However it will currently be running in 30 day evaluation mode until you purchase and activate an “Additional Polling Engine” or “Additional Web Server” license. If you already have one spare in your customer portal then you can grab the key and activate it.

The only remaining thing to do is to select which nodes will be polled by this new server. To do that you again go to your Orion Web UI and go to Settings > Manage Nodes. From this screen you tick the nodes you want to be managed by the second server and from the menu options along the top you select More Actions > Change Polling Engine. Then select the new server and click submit.

Sorry I’m doing this from my iPad so I can’t provide screenshots but if you get stuck I can post some more details.
