Unable to upgrade to 2019.4 due to installer error

Hi,

I have been trying to perform an upgrade from 12.5 to 2019.4 but I'm encountering a strange issue where installers asks me to stop the following services:

I guess I could stop them and try to continue but I do not think that this is a normal behavior. This happens at RabbitMQ installation step (there are some other steps before that an they are completed successfully).

I have restored VM from snapshot few times already but I always get this warring. I believe that installer should stop all required services on it's own.

Anyone encountered anything similar? Support case# 00460098.

Did you Stop All Services using the service manager prior to doing the install? That would probably fix it for you.

Unfortunately not. It was escalated to Devs and I'm waiting for further instructions now.

All Services were stopped, service manager was closed as well (as it may impact the installation). I have restored VM several times and unfortunately error was there all the time. I have even stopped them manually from cmd/powershell and got the installation running but then it crashes few moments later. The issue is more complex and has been escalated to Devs.

You should be fine if you run the RabbitMQ installer by itself first, let it reboot, and then go back to run the full Solarwinds Orion installer.

I had trouble with the upgrade and part of the issue was the RabbitMQ. Had to revert to VM snapshot and then do permissions checker and then reinstall

Others have need that RabbitMQ requires .NET 3.5 installed. Try installing and completely patching that, reboot, and then run this again.

Unfortunately that's not the issue here (.NET 3.5 has been installed for a long time already on all servers), .NET 4.8 is also installed and patched, version and build is the same on all servers. Currently waiting to support response as I'm out of ideas.

Main server has about 2 years now. Everything is virtualized.

I am not sure if this was solved already, but the way I solve this case is always the same:

1) Error like that pops out,

2) I uninstall current SolarWinds RabbitMQ,

3) Retry the installation.

Rabbit will get installed anyway during the upgrade flow.

It looks like some kind of mismatch in between server software and installation stuff. I would uninstall all SW applications (including RabbitMQ) and install them from the beginning using the same DB and offline installer. So you will get all your data back (make a backup of Report Writer reports if you have any).
