Monitoring redundant service

Hi,
In my job I have two servers (redundant servers) - Server_A and Server_B.
I need monitoring "adviserout" service.
This service is running in server_A, but if a problem ocurr with server_A,
this service runs in Server_B.
Is there any way to monitoring this service, alerting me only if this service
is down in both servers ?

The simplest way of doing this would be to create a group containing this application or the individual component monitors. Below I created a new group called "Windows Server 2003" which is tied to the default "Windows Server 2003-2008 Services and Counters" template in APM. When everything is up, the group status is "up". When one of the two applications is down the group status is "Warning". When the application on both servers is down the group status is "down".

From here we can create a simple alert that will notify us when the group status is down. <I.E. when the application on both nodes is in a down state>

You'll need to upgrade to APM 4.x to leverage grouping and dependencies. The current release is APM 4.2.

I've got a faxing service that relies on some 15 services running on two servers. Some of them run on one server, but come up on the other server if the service on the first fails. I've tried creating redundant service alerting through nested groups (an over-all group named FAXING SERVICE, for example, with a nested group for each of the 15 services, each containing a component monitor from each of the two servers.) The alert is set up like this:

Group name equals FAXING SERVICE

Member Status is not equal to Up

This does not appear to work correctly. I get an alert when a group member comes UP, but no alert when one of the services becomes "Critical".

I'm now creating 15 separate alerts for each two-member group, which is a huge pain. Is there no easier way to do this? This also brings up the idea of creating nested alerts within the Advanced Alert configuration to prevent having to scroll through hundreds of alerts you've set up.

The way the parent group ("FAXING SERVICE") is set up, it would only show in Warning if one of the members was down. Each member is set to Show Best Status (because as I mentioned a service on one server may be down while the other is up, but I want to know if both are down.) So how would I set up an alert that would accurately tell me which service member was down? It appears that since the alert has to be Group-based, reporting which Node is having the problem isn't possible.
