Alert supression in Beta engine

One potential problem I noticed while trying to configure a supression rule in the beta alerting engine.
Here's my scenario...I want to configure a supression rule so that if the network interface for my polling engine goes down, supress everything.
I noticed that if on the trigger condition tab, if the trigger is for a node, I can only select nodes and node properties for my supression rules.
Is there another way I should be tackling this, or is this a bug? Thanks!
