I need to turn asset collections on for all of my nodes that would support it; is there a good way to do this in bulk so that I don't need go and configure each node by hand?

Asset Inventory was enabled for all nodes it was applicable for when you upgraded to SAM 6.0 (or later). It is also checked by default when you add new nodes to Orion which support Asset Inventory. This is also true of Network Sonar Discovery.
If you've found yourself unchecking the Asset Inventory option when adding nodes, or for some reason when upgrading a large number of nodes did not get Asset Inventory applied, then the easiest way to enable Asset Inventory en masse is to create a Network Sonar Discovery profile for all your currently existing nodes. Run the discovery and anything new on those nodes will be imported. That includes Asset Inventory if it's applicable to the node.
