"All is well" alert
pwinterhalder
Surprisingly for the past few days I received no alerts from Orion, it seems we have had no outages. It made me paranoid because I didn't know whether Orion was working or not. So can anyone think of a way to implement a daily alert which, in the abcense of no problems, alerts to say "no problems today but I'm still checking".
Make sense?
Phil.

It's a kludge, but you could always set up an alert that pings the server that Orion is installed on and set the alert to send an email if the server is responding. Obviously, you'll want to configure some time/data restrictions, such as only being enabled during a one-minute or five-minute time window on a daily basis.
Like I said...it's a kludge, but it should work.

I put a "Netque" print server under my desk with a cheap timer on the power supply.
Every 12 hours it either turns on or turns off the device.
I just monitor the IP and set up an alert called "Orion alerting test".
Crude but effective.
